Coronavirus (COVID-19) school closure – Friday 20 March 2020
In light of the government announcement yesterday evening, both Worksop College and Ranby will be closed on Friday 20 March.
Support for key workers
We are vitally aware of the importance of supporting those families who will be keeping the UK’s infrastructure going during this testing time. We are working on a plan of how we might manage this against a backdrop of fewer staff members and with safeguarding in mind.
On behalf of the whole Worksop and Ranby Family, we would like to thank you for all you do and for the additional work you will be required to do in the coming weeks.
As you may be aware, the government has stated that GCSE and A level exams will not take place in May and June. While we are currently unsure how pupils will be assessed, we will continue to teach in the same way we planned before the announcement was made. We owe this to our pupils and to our families. We appreciate your support and patience.
Re-opening the school
We will be monitoring the situation closely and will keep parents and guardians regularly updated about the closure. All official updates will come directly from the school to the mobile number or email address we have on record.
We will also be providing updates and messages of solidarity via
- The school website – wsnl.co.uk
- Facebook – Worksop College & Ranby House
- Twitter - @worksopcollege @ranbyhouse
Access to student learning resources
Our main priority is to ensure that during the closure period, the impact on the education of our students is minimised as much as possible. In preparation for this, all students across all year groups will have access to learning resources and homework for each of their subjects.
Remote learning will start from Monday 23rd March and parents should refer to communication that was sent from Dr Gutteridge.
During the closure period, should you have any questions, please see contacts below. These will be staffed during our normal office hours (8.30am – 5pm)
- Worksop College main reception – 01909 537100
- IT Support Team – 01909 537111
- Email the IT support team on email@example.com
We cannot thank you enough for your support and very much look forward to welcoming pupils back to school as soon as we are able.
In the meantime, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families at this challenging time.
Dr John Price
